The National Seminar on Computational Science and the Festschrift Symposium marking the 75th birthday of Professor Shridhar R. Gadre served as a distinguished platform for scholarly exchange, bringing together leading experts in computational and quantum chemistry as well as a new generation of researchers. The two-day event was held at Somaiya Vidyavihar University and was marked by vibrant academic discussions and tributes to Prof. Gadre’s influential career.
This national event was jointly hosted by the Centre for Excellence in Computational Science and Simulations (C2S2) and the Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute for Basic Sciences (SRIBS). It drew a strong attendance of around 80 participants representing academic and research institutions from across the country. The seminar featured 21 distinguished speakers, including internationally recognized scholars, who shared their insights and research outcomes.
Sessions covered cutting-edge topics in computational physics, chemistry, biology, and materials science, with a particular emphasis on theoretical and methodological advancements. The seminar also provided a fitting occasion to honour Professor Gadre’s exceptional contributions to the growth and evolution of computational science in India, particularly his pioneering work in scientific computing.
